Philipp von Neumann
The musician and composer Philipp von Neumann was born and raised in the north of Essen, Germany. He has never left the Ruhr area since. Inspired by the dreariness of the region, his artistic work explores class and disintegrating structures. Since 2021 he studies electronic composition with Michael Edwards at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. He works with deterministic algorithmic structures and extreme sounds, which are found between the opposing poles of noise and meditation, digital aesthetics and crumbling reality. His main tool is his laptop, with which he composes, performs live and improvises.
